To attack another player, do the same as with non-blocking NPCs in PvM combat: Enter their field, click on their name in the other ships window, and give the order to attack. The same attack screen will come up as with NPCs. [MECH:PvM Combat]
Note than in order to be able to attack another player, s/he must be on a field where s/he has no protection. [MECH:Protection & Docking]
It is possible to fight other players until their ships get destroyed, or to raid them. [MECH:Raiding & Ambush].
Destroying another player's ship results in a gain of competency relative to the victim's experience unless the victim's last death was earlier than a month ago.
This open kind of PvP combat is uncommon amongst experienced players, since it only happens seldomly that a player stays on an unprotected field for longer than a second (if s/he knows what s/he is doing), while another one could attack him/her. More common and tactically sophisticated is setting up ambushes. [MECH:Raiding & Ambush]
Bounty HuntingBounty hunting is the act of destroying ships of players who have a bounty on their heads, or destroying buildings of players who have bounties on their buildings. [MECH:Bounties]
For information on how to perform the latter, see [MECH:PvBuilding Combat].
Bounty hunting ships is usually done via ambush. [MECH:Raiding & Ambush]
